It’s that time of year I call wedding season. Lots of people like to get married in June or July so there’s lots of invites floating around. Hopefully, if you’re part of the wedding party, you aren’t asked to wear a “sea foam green” gown from hell like a friend was. I know its the bride’s day and all, but in this case it required an intravention!
But whatever you’re wearing, you’ll have to find some shoes that match. That’s where House of Brides comes in! They have a good selection in all sorts of colors for brides and bridesmaids, along with dresses and everything else for that special day. This site has helped more than a friend or two with hard to match colors.
There is a recall of about 3,200 pairs of Charles David shoes by the Consumer Product Safety Commission today which are sold through Nordstrom. Apparently the heel can detach and the wearer runs the risk of falling.
Now that 4th of July revelries are over, we’re jumping headlong into summer which means you need a killer sun-kissed glow for the weeks ahead. Since living in the tanning booth or burning your skin outdoors isn’t the healthiest way to achieve that bronze goddess look, we’re resorting to other options. Here are some of the best ways to keep your skin looking tan and beautiful for the rest of summer:
Pick up this Mystic Tan Sunless Face and Body Tanning Spraythat not only gives your skin that sun-kissed look, but also hydrates so that your skin looks healthy immediately. It’s a great stand-by product any time of year.
Give your legs, arms and chest a quick brush-up with this antioxidant-infused self-tanning spray from Bliss. The 360-degree nozzle makes it super-easy to get that even tan you crave.
Finally, give your makeup bag a quick summer makeover by adding the Too faced Bronzed and Beautiful Bronzing Powderto the mix. The eye colors will warm up your skin tone and accentuate your eyes, while the bronzing cheek powder will warm up your entire face and neck area. Just wear a layer of these glowing shades over your foundation for an instant goddess-inspired look.
Maintaining your tan look is easy with self-tanning spray and the right makeup. Add these products to your daily regimen so you can play sun goddess without compromising the health of your skin.
Finding a suitable pair of heels for work that look good without making you look like the office floozy can be a bit of a challenge. It doesn’t take much to get people talking and if your skirt were too short or something about your shoes they don’t like, then I’m sure they’ll let you know.
Starting with a simple pair of 3 strap shoes, these have a modest heel which is more and a thick heel, which tends to be more comfortable for all day wear.
Perhaps something in the way of a pair of oxfords is more your thing? A little bit bold, a little bit unique, and professional all the while?
Depending on your work environment, a pairof gladiator heels might not be the right idea, but you don’t have to settle for dull either!
If you’re looking for something with a little more oomph, try this pair of square toe high heels. I thought these are simple enough to be a little sexy and serious at the same time.
These high heelsare black suede and have a thick chunky heel and would be great if you do a fair amount of standing all day.
A few considerations when shoe shopping for the office. You might stay away from too strappy, heels that are much over 3 inches, and platform soles. This is my own opinion really, but something to think about.
Here’s a great way to give your shoes a new look – shoe clips by Absolutely Audrey. You can choose from a wide variety of styles and designs, from bows, buckles, flowers and more. Designs can also include pearls, rhinestones, crystals and enamels. A great looking way to make your shoes look new again.
After a night of dancing, sometimes the last thing you want to do is head home in your stiletto heels. One chap in Britan had an aha moment after getting tired of giving his girlfriend a piggyback home every Saturday night and came up with a solution – vending machines that sell flats! Brilliant!
Anyone that knows me will tell you I love sandals, and especially the kind you would wear to a red carpet thing! Not that I’ve been to many, or any actually, but either way that’s what I prefer. I think they’re my favorite type of high heels because they seem… I dunno – extra sexy, and very feminine. Another thing about the right sandal is they look great with a lot of different kinds of clothes, and I’ll let you in on a little secret. Although they won’t admit it, I’m pretty sure guys prefer them too. Just a hunch, but I get more compliments on how I look or more specifically my shoes when wearing some sexy sandals. For some guys, I think the more strappy ones get their attention, and for others its about the stiletto heel. All I know is a nice dress and a pair of high heel sandals get a lot more doors held open for you. Anyone else notice this?
And in my usual Mizz Tissa style I’m shopping and sharing my online favorites. Since I don’t have Mariah’s closet or wallet, I can’t possibly afford to buy everything I like (and my tastes change, so its a good thing) but here’s a few I found this week that I consider my current favorites.
The satin Stuart Weitzman ‘Glohotbi’ is a great looking sandal with a 4½” heel with and ½” platform, and typically retails for $335 (40% off at time of this post, so $200 at the moment). An excellent deal for a great looking pair of heels.
Gucci’s ’Britt’ is a strappy sandal worth noting, with a satin upper, rhinestone ornament, side buckle, and a 3½” satin covered stiletto heel. They’re about $625, but 2o% off currently. Something about these make me think of Cinderella.
This pair from Jimmy Choo are unforgettable! The ‘Serena’ is a 4 inch heel and an instant classic which you’ll wear again and again, which is fortunate as they’re about $900 (20% off at time of this post). These ones would go under glass in a revolving pedestal. I wouldn’t hide a pair of heels as lovely as this in the closet! Sigh… Someday…
I’m still having a tough time deciding, but my short list continues to get smaller. I’ve now gotten my swim suit picks down to the following and feel good about the short list.
This bikini from Ed Hardy has a great print
I really like this black bikini from Moshino;
Which is also available in red;
Or I might be sold on this Moschino bikini. Something about this print.
But you know one thing I already have sorted out is the shoes. For poolside, I think a slide makes the most sense.
I might go with something like this pair from Michael Kors;
Or possibly an ultra sexy pair of Giuseppe Zanotti, which are a must have regardless!
For me, the most difficult showing is for swimwear, and I can’t figure out why. I’ve been looking at it for a while now and have it narrowed down (from a huge list) and should be able to make a choice just in time to wear it once before summer is over.
I’ve often thought of swimwear, or some of it, as water resistant lingerie. With the exception of lace, they’re very similar, and in many cases the swimwear leaves less to the imagination.
Without further adieau, I present MizzTissa’s Summer 09 Beachwear pics!
Starting with this halter top bikini set for about $70, it has kind of a cool print and side ties.
While I’m more partial to the 2 piece bikini/tankini style, but this one piece swimsuit from Sylvie Cachay caught my eye.
I could see myself possibly wearing this black floral halter bikini for $99.
