Why Women Own 15 Pairs of Black Shoes

Posted by donna in shoes

It’s no secret that shoes make women feel pretty. The right shoes make us feel so gorgeous inside that we’re willing to overlook a pinched pinky toe or have our ankles rubbed the wrong way. Like a snowflake, each shoe in our coveted closet is a unique expression of our self. Each pair communicates our different aspects. When a woman owns fifteen pairs of black shoes, she is simply communicating herself fifteen different ways.

What men forget is that women have to feel good about ourselves first for us to want to give anything to a man. Sex included. Our fifteen pairs of black shoes that make us feel good fifteen different ways, is in fact doing the heavy lifting for men. Instead of cursing them, men should thank our shoes. Our shoes compliment us when men forget to. They make us feel beautiful when men are too busy to notice our new haircut or outfit. In the feel good department of life, our shoes pick up the slack where men drop the ball. If men want more room in the closet, they might want to start complimenting us more so our fifteen pairs of black shoes don’t have to.

Better-Than-Sex Shoes

10 Reasons Why Shoes Are Better Than Men

  1. They come in pairs
  2. We pick their size
  3. They prefer to be fixed
  4. They always compliment us
  5. They wait right where we left them
  6. They’re returnable
  7. They don’t mind being cleaned up
  8. They like it when we “step on them”
  9. They always know how to make us feel better
  10. They don’t get jealous if we’ve had multiple shoe experiences

Shoe Interview - ShoeSmitten.com

Posted by MizzTissa in shoes

I had an opportunity to speak with Anna from ShoeSmitten Boutique to chat about shoes. It turns out she’s as big a shoe-a-holic as I, so naturally my first question was…

How did you become a Shoe-a-holic?

I’ve always admired beautiful shoes, but only recently did I resolve to delve into learning more about shoe fashion. I find great joy in accessorizing my outfits with my shoes. But even though I could recognize a beautiful shoe, I had no knowledge of the story behind that beautiful shoe. So I set out to learn everything about shoes, from the history of each style to the current trends and designers.

We share a similar story, being we both love shoes and started a site about it. How has your site changed your life?

I spend more time now than ever researching shoe designers, and fashion in general, and I love how I’m always learning new things. Shoe Smitten has opened my eyes to the possibilities available on the Web, for both personal and professional growth. I began the blog as a way to teach myself about my passion - shoes - and it quickly grew into something more - a place for other shoe lovers to come and share their opinions and advice.

If money were no object, what is your favorite pair of high heels?

I don’t really have one favorite pair, but I love Angelo Anastasio’s shoes, and would die for a pair of his Angeleigh Anastasio ‘Nereida’ sandals. I’ve also been eying this gorgeous pair of purple ankle boots by Sergio Rossi for quite some time.

With sky high stilettos and heel-less heels, what do you think are trends and what might catch on?

I believe that heel-less heels are simply a trend, as well as the fringe frenzy. I’m not a huge fan of either, in terms of wearability. I do, however, appreciate the architecture of the heel-less heel and I appreciate it as art. Now sky high stilettos, bold colors, embellishments and interesting textures are here to stay.

Trend Report for this coming season: In one word - BOLD! Shoes are becoming more and more interesting, with added details, cutout patterns and unusual heels. The biggest trend for this fall is women’s footwear, I would say, is the shootie. This is a must-have shoe!

Do you have any shoe fashion rules to share? Kind of like “no white after labor day”, but with regards to shoes.

1. Never wear running shoes with jeans! In fact, they should only be worn when you’re actually planning to exercise and are wearing sweatpants or shorts.

2. Don’t wear hose with sandals (flat or high heeled)!

3. Don’t bleed for shoes, no matter how beautiful! All the shoes I own are comfortable enough to stand in for at least an hour, and I buy gel inserts to make uncomfortable shoes more comfortable. It’s just not worth it to be cringing in agony and walking funny just to show off a gorgeous pair of 6″ Manolos.

4. I see a lot of college girls wearing their jeans not-so-neatly tucked into Ugg boots. I think Ugg boots are cute, but only when worn with super-skinny jeans or leggings. You need that skin-tight, chic look to offset the chunky boots.

Do you have any funny shoe fashion mishaps you can share?

One day, a few years ago, I was super-late to work so I got dressed and left the house in 5 minutes. As soon as I stepped out of the car at my office, I realized that I was wearing two different shoes - a black pump and a dark purple one! I just laughed it off and joked that I was trying to start a new trend…yeah, that didn’t catch on! :)

Anna from Shoesmitten.com

Anna is the twenty-something self-diagnosed shoeaholic behind the popular blog http://www.shoesmitten.com/blog/, where she shares her love affair of the sole. She wants to be a person people turn to for advice about how to wear a particular shoe style, and to learn about the latest shoe designs. In her free time, she likes to “windowshop” online, work out, and hit the town with friends.

Thanks Anna! And for those that don’t know, be sure to check Anna’s Clear Shoe Boxes, charms and more in the Shoe Smitten Boutique!

Halloween - The Perfect Excuse to Wear Those Sexy Shoes!

Posted by Lisa in sexy, sandal, high heels, platform, fashion, stilletto, boots, shopping, shoes

How many times have you seen the absolute most amazing sexy shoes or boots at the mall or online, but thought to yourself, “When would I ever wear them?” Well, the answer is, of course, Halloween- the one day of the year when you can be whoever you want to be, wear whatever you want, and escape reality without unnecessary judgment.

For example, I was at the mall the other day and saw the coolest boots (of course, they were sexy) that I have ever seen! The were knee-high, black patent leather with a super-shiny, silver stiletto heel. For added interest, they had two bright silver zippers- one on the inner calf, one on the outer. My immediate thought was that if your pants were too tight and you were unable to cross your leg onto your knee to put them on or take them off, the second zipper would save the day. The store manager told me that they would be a great footwear accessory to anyone wishing to be Catwoman for Halloween! Wow, what a concept- a perfect excuse to buy the coolest boots on the planet- one that could be taken up a notch since my 10-year-old son will be Batman for this festive holiday, and my husband is planning to be the less-intimidating (and nearly effortless, but still festive) Bruce Wayne. Finally, a great excuse to buy these incredibly sexy boots (reasonably priced, too!) and wear them–and if the need ever came up again, I would have them.

On my ride home, I started thinking about the shoes and boots that I have in my closet and those that have been put away for being “out of the current trends” or simply lack of use. Black, platform, knee-high boots with a thick, chunky heel came to mind. “I could be Gene Simmons of KISS!” Not this year (due to my newly acquired patent-leather boots), but definitely in the future. After all, Gene Simmons and his reality show “Family Jewels” is quite popular, and KISS simply must be planning their next farewell tour. Yup, Gene Simmons in the future is definitely a must-do!

Thinking back to my Halloweens of yesteryear, a vivid memory of dressing up as a hooker comes to mind. I had two male companions for a party one year, and I had these great purple velvet thigh-highs with a stiletto heel, which I bought just for the occasion (not so reasonably priced, but I was young). One of the guys I was with was a prison guard at the time, so he wore his uniform to the party- which looked like a police ensemble. The other guy wore boxers and a white, wife-beater-styled tank top. His arms were in front of him and his hands were bonded in handcuffs. A hooker, the trick, and an arresting officer was our theme for the evening.

So I got home from my trip to the mall and started thinking about different Halloween costume ideas that I could one day utilize-based upon sexy shoes and boots. So of course, I hit my fave shoe website (Mizztissa.com) and started poking around. I found lots of fabulously, sexy shoes and boots that I could find “excuses” to wear via the magic of Halloween. My personal favorite? I could be a Greek or Roman Goddess with the option for use at future Toga Parties with the “Chic Ultra Strappy Sandal” (see picture), ideally in black.

Lucky for me, this sandal also comes in red- perfect for the devil in all of us. If you’re looking for more of an authentic Roman-style sandal with just a bit of sexy added to it, the Pandora Roman Sandal might suit your needs. I just like the one in the picture a bit better. In closing, don’t rule out buying a pair of sexy shoes or boots just because you think you’ll never wear them. A bit of browsing (online or at the mall) mixed with a dash of creativity is sure to yield a great excuse (or reason) to buy those sexy shoes or boots that you just have to have!

Real Killer High Heels?

Posted by MizzTissa in high heels, sexy, fashion, shoes

How often can you say a shoe looks dangerous? If there was ever a shoe with attitude, this is it. You might even say they’re real killer high heels? Are these legal?

The Christian Louboutin for Rodarte shoes are cutting edge and daring. Designer shoes fashions are often risqué, but this is a new direction in couture footwear. I’m not familiar with goth styles, but fairly sure this is not all that common in mainstream fashion.

Here’s Victoria (with hubby David Beckham) leaving a restaurant wearing a pair.

Care to see more Louboutins at Rodarte?

So I’m still not sure what I think of these, but would love to try them on.

An interesting idea, the City Slipper is essentially a rubber cover that slips over your high heels to provide a little extra traction and protection on a dainy day.

Ventures in Vegas

Posted by MizzTissa in entertainment, shopping, shoes

As promised, here’s a few pics from Vegas. We arrived at about 10 pm and it was hotter than what I expected. After checking in we grabbed a bite to eat and hit the strip for a look. We didn’t really do any shopping until the next day, and it was even hotter out.

First stop was Sephora’s, which was just around the corner from the Flamingo where we stayed. We then carried on and went to The Venetian. The shopping gallery had a Euopean feel, with canals running through it. Then we had a bite to eat at the Tao restaurant. I had the Tao Shabu Shabu, which was awesome. My girlfriends shared a sushi thing. I’m not big on sushi - I’m more of a dim sum fan.

After some more shopping we hit the casino for some gambling. I stuck with the nickel slots, my friends played quarters and dollars. Basically we all lost, but I lost less with my nickel game. For dinner we went back to The Venetian for a fabulous dinner at Grand Luxe Cafe. I had pasta with jumbo shrimp in a lemon cream sauce that was amazing, and the girls had steak and ribs if memory serves correctly.

By now our feet we’re getting sore, but we needed the walk after dinner so we marched down the strip a little further to see Treasure Island and The Wynn, then went back to the Flamingo for some gambling in our own hotel and back to our rooms.

The next day we visited a fashion mall and an outlet mall that we had to take a bus to, just past the Stratophere and Fremont Street. We spent most of the day there and had some bad pizza in the food court. Lots of deals, and so many stores, it was a great afternoon. I actually had to buy an extra piece of luggage as there was no way it was all coming back in the one suitcase I had. The hotel shopping areas had a lot more shoe stores, but the fashion mall and outlet had lots of everything to keep us busy most of the day. I haven’t shopped this hard in a while and had to have a few rests as my feet were getting tired. And I wasn’t even wearing heels!

Afterwards, we jumped on a bus to get back to the area our hotel is and went a block over to Bally’s for an ok dinner and an over-priced glass of wine. After dinner we jumped in a taxi to check out the Rio’s male revue, but we arrived too late and it just wasn’t meant to be.

On our last day, we checked out and checked our luggage into a hotel holding area. We didn’t need to be at the airport until about 9 pm so we had lots of time to do some final sightseeing. Had a great time at Caesar’s Palace shopping area, which had almost every shoe brand I wanted to see. From Jimmy Choo to Zanotti, it’s mostly there. The only thing really missing was Christian Louboutin, which we saw back at The Venetian. If, or I should say when I go back. I might just check in at Caesar’s Palace next time…

Victoria’s Thin Stiletto Heels

Posted by MizzTissa in stilletto, shoes

Victoria Beckham was spotted with her entourage wearing some killer heels at a mall in Los Angeles. Just last week she was spotted wearing her heelless Antonio Berardi PVC boots, but it looks like she’s back to regain her title as queen of the stilettos. We can’t tell by the photo, but wondered if she is holding her son’s hand so he doesn’t wander off, or for stability.

Another High Heel Must Have!

Posted by MizzTissa in high heels, shoes

I recently had a chance to try heel straps, and I have to tell you - these are truly awesome! I got the clear ones, along with black, and knew the moment I slipped them on I loved them. We can’t wear Mary Janes all the time, and slides/mules are challenging on stairs. I’ve even made passed on shoes I really liked thinking “…too bad it doesn’t have some kind of strap at the top”. No longer a worry!

More info on heel straps. Enjoy!
