Over the knee boots are on the radar this fall.
If there is one thing in the world I love more than a pair of knee high boots, it would be a pair of ankle boots. Ankle boots were kind of my signature for a while, and although I don’t wear them as much now, I still have a special admiration for them.
I recently went looking again and found too many I liked and it began to make my head spin. I managed to short list it and this is only some of what I came up with.
Nine West Unival
A side zip with leather upper and a good sturdy heel. I liked this one for its ruggedness. I could probably wear this one for several hours before crying out “Taxi!”. Priced at about $109 at time of sighting makes them even more appealing.
Ralph Lauren Gemini
These sleek and sexy boots are perfect for day or evening, and near the top of my list. These would look great when dresing either casual and semi formal. Also very appealing at about $120.
Christin Michaels Jocelyn
This sexy bootie has a low cutt cuff and a side zipper. I love the heel on this one and think its would wear well if you dress up or dress down. Priced at about $150 its still not too hard on the pocketbook.
The first snowfall has arrived for some of us, and its time to put away the open toed shoes. The air is crisp, and you’re winter wardrobe is finally getting some attention, but it lacks one thing. That pair of boots that make you walk with a sense of purpose, hold your head high, and turn heads.
We found just the thing from BCBGirls, and not only is it reasonably priced at $140*, it’s perfect for that new job or starting the week on a high note.
We also found this pair of Guess boots in dark chestnut with dual zippers that also has elasticized calf vents for comfort and fit. With a half inch platform and a four inch heel, it could easily become your new favorite pair of knee high boots, and priced at about $200* makes them a steal!

Although the colder weather is here, it does give us an opportunity to wear gorgeous boots. From oxfords and ankle foots to the knee high boots, I love them all. It’s great to have a change of season, as it also means a seasonal change of wardrobe. And let’s face, another excuse to buy more shoes.
I’m in the mood for something a little more adventurous, and thought these might be the way to go.
The L.A.M.B. King is your first step to rewarding yourself for great taste. It’s a 4 1/2″ heel on a 1″ platform with a triple buckle.
It’s love at first sight! These “Hot Purple” patent ankle boots from Emilio Pucci are just the thing, if you think you’re ready. Beautifully made, with a print on the sole. Yes, hot purple!

I’ve never owned a pair of boots that rock, but if I did they would look like this. Most of mine are knee high no nonsense leather boots. These would look great with jeans, with special thanks to Giuseppe Zanotti!

It’s getting close to Christmas, and I’ll have to get myself something.
How many times have you seen the absolute most amazing sexy shoes or boots at the mall or online, but thought to yourself, “When would I ever wear them?” Well, the answer is, of course, Halloween- the one day of the year when you can be whoever you want to be, wear whatever you want, and escape reality without unnecessary judgment.
For example, I was at the mall the other day and saw the coolest boots (of course, they were sexy) that I have ever seen! The were knee-high, black patent leather with a super-shiny, silver stiletto heel. For added interest, they had two bright silver zippers- one on the inner calf, one on the outer. My immediate thought was that if your pants were too tight and you were unable to cross your leg onto your knee to put them on or take them off, the second zipper would save the day. The store manager told me that they would be a great footwear accessory to anyone wishing to be Catwoman for Halloween! Wow, what a concept- a perfect excuse to buy the coolest boots on the planet- one that could be taken up a notch since my 10-year-old son will be Batman for this festive holiday, and my husband is planning to be the less-intimidating (and nearly effortless, but still festive) Bruce Wayne. Finally, a great excuse to buy these incredibly sexy boots (reasonably priced, too!) and wear them–and if the need ever came up again, I would have them.
On my ride home, I started thinking about the shoes and boots that I have in my closet and those that have been put away for being “out of the current trends” or simply lack of use. Black, platform, knee-high boots with a thick, chunky heel came to mind. “I could be Gene Simmons of KISS!” Not this year (due to my newly acquired patent-leather boots), but definitely in the future. After all, Gene Simmons and his reality show “Family Jewels” is quite popular, and KISS simply must be planning their next farewell tour. Yup, Gene Simmons in the future is definitely a must-do!
Thinking back to my Halloweens of yesteryear, a vivid memory of dressing up as a hooker comes to mind. I had two male companions for a party one year, and I had these great purple velvet thigh-highs with a stiletto heel, which I bought just for the occasion (not so reasonably priced, but I was young). One of the guys I was with was a prison guard at the time, so he wore his uniform to the party- which looked like a police ensemble. The other guy wore boxers and a white, wife-beater-styled tank top. His arms were in front of him and his hands were bonded in handcuffs. A hooker, the trick, and an arresting officer was our theme for the evening.
So I got home from my trip to the mall and started thinking about different Halloween costume ideas that I could one day utilize-based upon sexy shoes and boots. So of course, I hit my fave shoe website (Mizztissa.com) and started poking around. I found lots of fabulously, sexy shoes and boots that I could find “excuses” to wear via the magic of Halloween. My personal favorite? I could be a Greek or Roman Goddess with the option for use at future Toga Parties with the “Chic Ultra Strappy Sandal” (see picture), ideally in black.

Here’s Victoria Beckham in heelless boots, hanging onto her hubby’s arm just in case. The latext boots are like ultra-tight leggings with shoes on the end, and at £3,300 we might not see a lot of them.
As Posh measures up at 5ft 3in, she likes to squeeze in that extra half inch where she can. Remember, this is the same woman that work high heels on the baseball field to throw out the first ball, and if anyone can pull off a heelless look, it would probably be Victoria.
If you’ve ever been invited to a fox hunt, or anything else that might require a tall pair of boots (and possibly a small whip…) then these thigh high boots from National Costume are for you! And at 61% off the regular price, you have to wonder what the catch is. No catch, except they’re only available in size 6.

If you’re not lucky enough to have lived through this mind-boggling shoe era, there’s no doubt that you’ve heard the stories, seen the pictures and videos of Elton John’s fanatical platform shoes and Gene Simmons’ death-defying, demon boots. But this was so much more than the current youth trying to outdo their parent’s infatuation with Elvis, it was an historic turn of events in the fashion world, as shoes were becoming a focal point of the wearer’s ensemble.
I loved these the moment I saw them. Open toed boots, where have you been? Perfect for the change of seasons or when it might be a little cool for a sandal.

Regarded as a transitional season shoes or the sandal bootie, they get my vote. Sarah Jessica Parker wears them throughout the soon to be released movie Sex and the City.
I sense a trend coming.

I was reading an article discussing the idea that were such thing as too many shoes. Ha!
But then I started to think about it. Recently, I blogged about the death of the cheap shoe and started to consider there could be such thing.
Although most women won’t openly admit it, the possibility of too many shoes could be tied to what you actually wear. We all have a pair or three in the back of the closet that matched a certain outfit, so we had to have them. But the fact that they hurt like hell and we have no intention of wearing them again is no one’s business but our own.
I have taken a vow, or call it a late resolution, but I plan to clear out my closet of the derelicts, the unwanted, and deadbeats of shoes which I have no use for. I won’t say how many pairs I actually have (Hint: it’s close to my age, but you won’t get that from me either. This year – another anniversary of 27) but my painful pumps and hurty heels have got to go.
So good buy Payless, and all you other fabulously cheap shoe outlets, I’m going cold turkey. I could use a buddy, like AA. Anyone want to quit with me? Besides, disgarding the unwanted gives me more room!
