Is there ever a day that goes by when Rachel Bilson doesn’t get her outfit spot on trend?

In a word, ‘no’.

Just the other day, the former OC star stepped out in one of these seasons’ hottest trends, the boyfriend jeans trend.

The petite brunette teamed her baggy stonewash jeans with a simple white tee, a tassled tan bag, a pair of gladiator sandals and an obligatory pair of superstar sunglasses.

Of course, her outfit would not be complete without her uber cute, shaggy dog.

Bilson is blessed with gorgeous hair, an adorable doggy woggy, great acting talent (ok, so that one is up for debate), an Adonis of a fiance (hello, Hayden Christiansen) and a wardrobe that I would literally kill for.

I guess I’ll have to just make do with imitating her style.

Seriously, no fair.

Boyfriend jeans don’t only have to be worn with pumps or sandals, but can also be worn with heels, a la’ Kylie Minogue.

It’s always worth investing more money on the basic items in your wardrobe as these are the pieces that you get the most wear out of.

These Kurt Geiger sandals are called Kate. Brilliant name, if you ask me…

Well would you take a little looky what we found here! On my internet travels for clothes, shoes and, oh, I don’t know, anything else that I care to covet, I came across this little gem of a discount at this gem of a store.

They have such a masive array of products that cater for all price ranges I spent a good few hours of today browsing and wishing pay day would roll on just a little bit quicker!

My top 3 list at chickdowntown.com at the moment:

-Alexander McQueen scarf for $237 – this is a style that’s been seen on all the A-listers – what I wouldn’t give to be one of them, if not just for their access to the hottest trends around!

-Mink Pink Smooth Sailing Dress $55.00 – gorgeous simple dress and with a price tag that is far more in my price range!

-Rachel Leigh Millies Clip On Ivory $145.00 – cutest retro clip on earings. Possibly ever.

OK, so summer has arrived, and we all know what that means, right? It means it’s time to get out your maxi dresses and flounce around the streets!

I don’t know about you, but I know that I’ll be making like the A-listers and treating myself to this season’s most flattering dress. Unlike the typical LBD, the maxi dress is perfect for hiding all of those lumps and bumps. Perfect, just what I like!

I’ll be in good company too, with my maxi dress. Serial offenders of the maxi-dress wearing brigade include Rachel Bilson, Mischa Barton and Nicole Ritchie.

A style similar to Mischa’s dress is available from Firetrap at Oli.

Traditionally, the maxi dress tends to be floral. However, with tribal and ethnic being a key trend this season, you can get away with this too. Oli comes through for us again with this gorgeous tribal bandeau maxi, courtesy of Miss Sixty.

The maxi dress breaks the usual dress rules of distinction; it falls into the categories of beach as well as dressy. You can make a maxi dress look daytime or evening based on the accessories/shoes that you team it with.

If you want to go for the daytime look, then maxi dresses look gorgeous with gladiators. For an evening look, try teaming yours with a simple pair of wedges for understated glam. I love this pair of gladiators, found at Heels.com. The harsh studding would work great against the delicate patterns of a maxi. And the Valentine Bronze wedges would not only look great with your maxi, but the neautral shade makes them versatile enough to look gorgeous with jeans too!

A common misconception of the maxi is that if you’re short, you can’t wear a maxi dress. Let me tell you, this is wrong! True, if you’re short, you have to be a little craftier, but you can still get away with a maxi. I’ll let you in on a little secret: the trick is to go for small prints as big prints tend to drown the figure. Alternatively, an all over colour looks great on tall and short girls alike. Blake Lively and Eva Longoria sit on either end of the height spectrum but look equally stunning in their red and orange hues.

This season is all about peaches, caramels, and beiges; yep, it’s ALL about the nude hues!

Flesh toned nudes were featured all throughout the Spring/Summer 09 runways, courtesy of the likes of Nina Ricci, Lanvin and Phillip Lim, to name but a few.

Of course, this look will always look fabulous on the catwalk because, let’s face it, what DOESN’T look good on the catwalk?! But what we want to know is how we can make it work for us…

The naked truth is that the new nudes trend is not easy to master; but, if done correctly, the look is one of chic high fashion and sophistication.

According to Vogue UK: ‘As a broad rule, the choice of which neutral to wear is in inverse proportion to your skin tone; paler skins suit darker neutrals in cinnamon and coffee, while darker complexions can wear more buttery colours’.

If you’re thinking of trying out the new nudes style, then take a leaf out of actress Diane Kruger’s book and choose an outfit with textured fabrics; this avoids the appearance of having a second skin. Bleugh.

Peeping out beneath Diane’s dress, as pictured at the Cesar awards, is a pair of gorgeous strappy platform heels in a deep toffee colour. The look is a testament to the fact that when going for the buff trend, don’t be afraid to mix up tones.

Luckily for us, this trend has gone beyond the catwalk and has been snapped up by our favourite stores so we mere mortals can have a chance to look fabulous in flesh.

If you’re dubious of going all out in the nude look then why not subtlety introduce it to your wardrobe, feet first! Put your best foot forward in a pair of nude Ashlee Pump courts by Restricted.

‘This classic and chic little number is a must for every girl’s closet…It doesn’t get any more timeless than this.’

These heels would look fabulous teamed with a shift dress and would even look fabulous popped on over a pair of tights.

L.A.M.B. was also quick to jump on the bandwagon and provides a delicious offering of straps galore with the Tizzy shoe.

‘…with a golden zipper at the ankle and a 4 ¼ inch self-covered stiletto heel, this fierce statement-maker is sure to make to the envy of every girl.’

So go on, dare to bare and brave the new nudes trend!

Of course the said vampires aren’t REALLY blood sucking vamps; they’re the actors of film Twilight, who are currently filming the sequel to the film, based on the books by Stephanie Meyer, New Moon.

It is near impossible not to crave the wardrobes of the young stars of the film; they’re all drop-dead gorgeous, and have wardrobes to match!

Kristen Stewart, Ashley Greene and Nikki Reed have all had us wishing that we could be them; or have their wardrobes anyway! Clearly part of the urban, hip crowd, the Twilight cast seem to live by the mantra that they are just too cool for school.

The girls are forever being papped in outfits that have me green with envy. Always tending to go for the laid back look where they’d be more at ease in some Converse or biker boots, the girls know how to turn it round and glam it up for premieres.

These girls make up a new elite of young talent, and all seem to have a fashion sense that screams ‘I know how to look fabulous without even having to try’. Sigh.

It seems that in the States Lady Gaga has been knocking around for a while, but across the pond in Britain, she has only just made it big. And boy, has she made it big!

It’s not even so much for her catchy tunes of Just Dance and Poker Face (catchy is possibly an understatement, I think that infectious is probably more fitting) but for her out of this world dress sense!

Now, in what respect you interpret the term ‘out of this world’ is up for debate.

At the very least you gotta give the Lady credit for having balls of steel; not many of us would dare be seen in some of the outfits Lady G steps out in! Forever a fan of anything outrageous, she never ceases to amaze us with her creations.

Personally, my favourite would have to be the kooky concoction that the New Yorker stepped out in yesterday in London.

In an all white tailored dress (seemingly reserved for the eccentric 23 year old) she didn’t disappoint with her accessorizing. It was namely her lipstick, applied to make her look like somewhat of a geisha, and her matching themed Chinese style cup and saucer. Of course, no girl is without a pair of shades, big hat, statement earrings and … a cup and saucer. Maybe not.

Proving that she hasn’t just got a face for the radio, Lady Gaga had dressed up in the fancy-dress like attire for a radio appearance with UK national radio station, BBC Radio 1.

I can’t help but find Lady Gaga to be quite charming with her eccentric, wild outfits, but at the same time, I can help but wonder ‘What on earth is going through that girl’s head when she get’s dressed in the morning?!’

Love it or loathe it? Hmmmm….for me, the jury is out….

What do you think of her style? Do you love it or loathe it?

Let us know what you think on Mizztissa’s forum!

Personally, I have a sneaky suspicion that Michelle may have some kind of personal crusade to bring back the cardigan. She’s clearly a massive fan and you’d be hard pressed to find an occasion when she’s NOT in a bold coloured cardy. Hell, she even wore a black one to meet the Queen of England!

However, it’s not just the cardigan that seems to be a staple of her wardrobe, as she will more often than not team them with a tailored skirt and waist belt. In doing so, she successfully manages to merge the lines between businesswoman and housewife. Mrs Obama is a clear testament to the notion that ‘If it ‘aint broke, don’t fix it!’

Unlike her predecessors, this fashion savvy first lady has found herself the muse of many a designer. Take, for example, Elie Tahari who, for his A/W line, has created the “Michelle” dress. The said dress is a one-shoulder cocktail dress in a vibrant orange and purple print.

A look at her wardrobe, brief as this may be, would not be complete without a quick mention of her shoes. Ever the practical dresser, Obama is seldom viewed in anything but a low court. There is a particular pair of tempting green Jimmy Choo pumps that she often steps out in but I, for one, can’t help but be a little disappointed that she doesn’t step out in something a little more mouthwatering, like a Louis Vuiton killer heel. Having said that, I must give credit where it’s due; the poor woman does have to stand on her feet for hours on end, meeting and greeting with her husband (you may have heard of him, his name is Barrack…)
What are your thoughts on Michelle’s fashion sense? Do you love it or loathe it? Check out the new forum’s on MizzTissa’s shoe blog and join in the discussion!

Nicole Ritchie has just signed a deal to design a range of shoes for her House of Harlow jewellery collection with the creators of the labels Modern Vintage shoes and Earnest Sewn jeans.

The news comes just weeks after the former reality TV star announced that she is expecting her second baby with her long term partner, Good Charlotte front man Joel Madden.

The 1960s collection has resisted the pitfalls of the recession and sales are reported to be strong, particularly with regards to it’s headbands and hair pieces.

The daughter of singing legend Lionel Ritchie signed a deal with designers Rick and Brian Cytrynbaum.

Despite the partnership, Nicole is said to have complete creative control over the collection.

Reports claim that the collection will include not only shoes but also bags and belts.

‘Nicole is designing everything herself. She’s totally devoted to this, and we’re creating a whole lifestyle around her aesthetic and what is true to her,’ says Rick Cytrynbaum.

I personally cannot get enough of Miss Ritchie’s laid back glamorous style; she works casual chic like no-one else, and is surely a contender for the yummiest mummy in showbiz land!

However I can’t help but remember the days of yesteryear when The Simple Life star was overshadowed by pal Paris Hilton. Before her days of boho glamour, Ritchie looked far more comfortable with ragged extensions and chavvy ensembles.

Thank God, those days are long gone…

Rick continues: ‘Nicole is by far one of America’s biggest fashion icons. We’re investing millions into this brand. This is like nothing out there right now’.

The new range will hit stores in Spring 2010 and I, for one, cannot wait!

Set to be unveiled to the press next week in London, Gwyneth has collaborated with the fashion house, best known for its soft separates and jersey knits, to create a new vintage capsule collection.

Ever since Gwyn returned to super star glamour to promote her film, the Iron Man, we have been lusting after her wardrobe, especially her shoes. Oh, the shoes! Barely a day goes by when she isn’t snapped in a pair of killer heels that we mere mortals would kill for.

Take, for example, the black Alexander McQueen stilettos that she was sporting at the London premiere of the film. The square toe supported by a 5 inch heel had us all positively green with envy.

Her A/W 09 collection will stick to Zoetees trademark trend of jersey basics, but will introduce a hint of glam with retro, vintage looks and key pieces influenced by sharp tailoring. However, we must wait in baited breath until next week, as little more information is known.

Staying true to form, the Oscar winner won’t be taking any money from the collection as all proceeds are being donated to one of her favourite charities, the London’s Kid’s Company.

Note – A big welcome to Kate, our newest contributing writer!
