60 second review: The wardrobe of Michelle Obama

‘Behind every good man is a great woman’

Obama Ok, so this story may have been somewhat flogged to death; but how could we  possibly not write a little something about the wardrobe of America’s leading lady?!

Personally, I have a sneaky suspicion that Michelle may have some kind of personal crusade to bring back the cardigan. She’s clearly a massive fan and you’d be hard pressed to find an occasion when she’s NOT in a bold coloured cardy. Hell, she even wore a black one to meet the Queen of England!

However, it’s not just the cardigan that seems to be a staple of her wardrobe, as she will more often than not team them with a tailored skirt and waist belt. In doing so, she successfully manages to merge the lines between businesswoman and housewife. Mrs Obama is a clear testament to the notion that ‘If it ‘aint broke, don’t fix it!’

Unlike her predecessors, this fashion savvy first lady has found herself the muse of many a designer. Take, for example, Elie Tahari who, for his A/W line, has created the “Michelle” dress. The said dress is a one-shoulder cocktail dress in a vibrant orange and purple print.

A look at her wardrobe, brief as this may be, would not be complete without a quick mention of her shoes. Ever the practical dresser, Obama is seldom viewed in anything but a low court. There is a particular pair of tempting green Jimmy Choo pumps that she often steps out in but I, for one, can’t help but be a little disappointed that she doesn’t step out in something a little more mouthwatering, like a Louis Vuiton killer heel. Having said that, I must give credit where it’s due; the poor woman does have to stand on her feet for hours on end, meeting and greeting with her husband (you may have heard of him, his name is Barrack…)
