“Sex and the City,” the movie, premiered in London Monday night, and New Yorkers (rightly so) are still smarting over the idea that it did open in NYC. Cynthia Nixon, who plays Miranda in the film, tried to placate American fans by implying last night’s London premiere was not the main event.

She said: “We’re having a kind of smallish premiere here; we’re having a smallish premiere in Berlin.

“We’re building to the New York premiere (May 30) which is enormous and happens just before the film opens worldwide.”

Sex and the City has women the world over hooked on the adventures of Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte as they negotiate their way through the minefield of their everyday lives while sipping Cosmopolitans and shopping for Manolo Blahnik high heel shoes.

Rumours of a rift between Kim Cattrall, who plays Samantha, and Sarah Jessica Parker (playing Carrie) have dogged the film, and were said to be the reason it took so long for the project to come to fruition. It’s said it started over the differing amounts of money they were paid, have been circulating for months.

Fortunately the movie is complete and only a few weeks away from premiering in North America.
