Gwyneth Paltrow’s recent appearances in sky-high high heels just may have started a craze for stilettos. Her recent public appearances have shown the Miss Paltrow in a new and distinctly edgier light as she has stepped out in front of the world’s paparazzi sporting some of the highest heels known to mankind.

While out promoting her new movie Iron Man, Gwyneth has been spotted wearing six, seven, and even eight-inch elevations crafted by the design house Pacini. The phenomenon is already being described by some as the “Gwyneth-effect”, with sales of super high heels (over 5″) up 35%. Retailers in the UK like Selfridges and Harvey Nichols are seeing sales of stilettos outnumbering flats five to one.
