Dream Closet

Posted by MizzTissa

Jennifer Hudon was on Ellen today, and she mentioned that she bought a new home.

The funny thing about it is how she said that when she spotted a particular room, she just knew this would be her future closet.

What looks like someone’s living room, is actually her closet.

Reversed High Heels

Posted by MizzTissa

We’ve all seen the strangely wonderful high heel shoes that designers come out with.

From Lady Gaga’s heelless heels to other monstrosities, all in the name of fashion.

Now there’s an art project called Scary Beautiful has Leanie van der Vyver wearing what she calls reversed high heels.

More for the sake of art, but could you imagine going out in these?

Summer Sizzles

Posted by MizzTissa

If you’d prefer a lobotomy to a day of swimsuit shopping, you’re not alone. Unforgiving florescent lights aside, scrutinizing your body in front of a communal mirror in a crowded dressing room is one of life’s more harrowing experiences. Sure, it’s almost enough to make you long for an eternal winter. Almost. But fret no more. BeautyMD, a new site dedicated to making every woman look and feel beautiful, has you covered (or uncovered, as it were) with a definitive guide to the most flattering bathing suits for every body type.

You don’t need to be a Victoria’s Secret Angel or a Pirelli Calendar girl to look hot this summer. You just need to embrace your body type and know what works for you. So put away your shapeless cover-ups and flaunt what your momma gave you. Oh, and ladies, one piece of advice: I don’t care what Rachel Zoe says, muumuus must be avoided at all cost.

I love LV as much as anyone, but is this going a bit too far?

Louis Vuitton Spring Sandals

Posted by MizzTissa

At first glance I fell in love.

The strappy design and minimal appearance of Louis Vuitton’s RTW sandals are classy.

But that sculptured heel, with its understated approach… and what looks like a little animal paw, I was unsure how I felt.

Then I discovered there are similar versions with other types of animal heels, possibly a zoo of choices.

Christmas Shoe Shopping for Yourself

Posted by MizzTissa

The best gift is often the ones we buy ourselves. Not to be unappreciative, but I love shopping way too much to believe someone (even with list in hand) could ever do it as well as I do. When buying for ourselves, shopping can be a high. I’ll admit I’m addicted, but don’t think I have a problem. I know I know, the first step on the road to recovery is to admit you have a problem, but I just don’t see it that way. I’m content being a shoeaholic, and wouldn’t have it any other way.

But on to the shoes! I’ve been looking at all kinds as my shoe shopping isn’t really dictated by the season. More like what grabs my attention.

Like this black suede boot from Diane Von Furstenberg. I’ve been thinking of a suede boot for a while, but we get our fair share of rain here and it remains on my list of must have items still. It’s called ‘Guardian’ and looks stunning.

If price were no object, I might go for the incredible looking Skyscraper Shoe by Vivienne Westwood. I’d almost be willing to give up half my shoe collection for a pair of these. Little things like eating, bills, and guilt keep me grounded. but I love the description for these;

“Cause visual vertigo and watch others swoon over the arousing architectural allure.”

I’m a huge fan of L.A.M.B. and thought the ‘Peppa’ looked kinda spicey! Love the peep toe and t-strap design combination. And 20% off! Hmmm.

Sometimes a shoe that’s more sexy and flirty or more fun than the more practical. Like this one from DSquared2. I’m not sure if it’s all the buckles, the way it’s designed, or the silver heel. But it looks to have just enough glam and couture to make me want it.

DSQUARED2 - W10B013102 20 (Black) - Footwear

Still missing from my closet is a pair from Giuseppe Zanotti, which makes me a little sad. I believe this one is called ‘nero’ and if you ask me it’s one of the more classy stilettos I’ve seen in some time. I wish I had a black tie function to attend soon so I might be able justify getting these. These would look so great with a gown at a swanky party of some kind. Note to self, more scratch and win tickets.

Giuseppe Zanotti - I00111 (Nero) - Footwear

Confession time – I’m also in love with this pair from Alexander McQueen. I can’t put my finger on it, but I could see Uma Thurman wearing them in a future Kill Bill episode. Dress to kill! Speaking of confessions, almost half the time I buy high heels I don’t have anything in my closet to go with them. You think I’d learn. Sound familiar to anyone reading?

I hope you all have a happy holiday with friends or family and get yourself something nice. And Happy New Year!

Celebrity Closets

Posted by MizzTissa

After the popularity of a previous post about celebrity shoes and their closets, its time for another!

Here’s Christina Aguilera is a closet that makes me crazy with envy.

“Everything on my shoe wall is grouped by designer—Louboutin, McQueen, YSL—all in their own little family,” says Christina.

Tamara Mellon is president and co-founder of Jimmy Choo, and needless to say her closet is amazing.

Have a look at the closet of Miley Cyrus, a teen’s dressing room dream come true. I guess it isn’t really a closet, but still.

Rachel Zoe doesn’t really have a closet, but you’ll want to see what she does have – more shoes than the average department store!

She currently reigns as the most sought after celebrity stylist, boasting a roster of bold-faced names such as Cameron Diaz, Lindsay Lohan, Debra Messing, Eva Mendes, Keira Knightley, and Anne Hathaway. She also consults for Gap and Piperlime.

Fergie turned two guest rooms of her Brentwood home into her closets, plus the existing master closet—that makes three huge closets.

Nanette Lepore is a fashion designer in Manhattan with a spacious closet;

Then there is the closet of the queen of daytime tv – Oprah!

Have a look at a shoe addict’s visit to an amazing closet. It just goes to show its not just the A-list that gets to have all the fun!
