Shoe Shopping - Something For Work

Posted by MizzTissa in high heels, life, shoes

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Finding a suitable pair of heels for work that look good without making you look like the office floozy can be a bit of a challenge. It doesn’t take much to get people talking and if your skirt were too short or something about your shoes they don’t like, then I’m sure they’ll let you know.

high-heel-31Starting with a simple pair of 3 strap shoes, these have a modest heel which is more and a thick heel, which tends to be more comfortable for all day wear.

high-heel-4Perhaps something in the way of a pair of oxfords is more your thing? A little bit bold, a little bit unique, and professional all the while?

Depending on your work environment, a pairof gladiator heels might not be the right idea, but you don’t have to settle for dull either!

high-heel-square-toeIf you’re looking for something with a little more oomph, try this pair of square toe high heels.  I thought these are simple enough to be a little sexy and serious at the same time.

high-heel-21These high heels are black suede and have a thick chunky heel and would be great if you do a fair amount of standing all day.

A few considerations when shoe shopping for the office. You might stay away from too strappy, heels that are much over 3 inches, and platform soles. This is my own opinion really, but something to think about.

High Heel Help After A Night Out

Posted by MizzTissa in news, shoes

vending-machine-flats

After a night of dancing, sometimes the last thing you want to do is head home in your stiletto heels. One chap in Britan had an aha moment after getting tired of giving his girlfriend a piggyback home every Saturday night and came up with a solution - vending machines that sell flats! Brilliant!

Sandals and Summer Nights

Posted by MizzTissa in sandal, sexy, shoes, stilletto

Anyone that knows me will tell you I love sandals, and especially the kind you would wear to a red carpet thing! Not that I’ve been to many, or any actually, but either way that’s what I prefer. I think they’re my favorite type of high heels because they seem… I dunno - extra sexy, and very feminine. Another thing about the right sandal is they look great with a lot of different kinds of clothes, and I’ll let you in on a little secret. Although they won’t admit it, I’m pretty sure guys prefer them too. Just a hunch, but I get more compliments on how I look or more specifically my shoes when wearing some sexy sandals. For some guys, I think the more strappy ones get their attention, and for others its about the stiletto heel. All I know is a nice dress and a pair of high heel sandals get a lot more doors held open for you. Anyone else notice this?

And in my usual Mizz Tissa style I’m shopping and sharing my online favorites. Since I don’t have Mariah’s closet or wallet, I can’t possibly afford to buy everything I like (and my tastes change, so its a good thing) but here’s a few I found this week that I consider my current favorites.

The satin Stuart Weitzman ‘Glohotbi’ is a great looking sandal with a 4½” heel with and ½” platform, and typically retails for $335 (40% off at time of this post, so $200 at the moment). An excellent deal for a great looking pair of heels.

Gucci’s ’Britt’ is a strappy sandal worth noting, with a satin upper, rhinestone ornament, side buckle, and a 3½” satin covered stiletto heel. They’re about $625, but 2o% off currently. Something about these make me think of Cinderella.

This pair from Jimmy Choo are unforgettable! The ‘Serena’  is a 4 inch heel and an instant classic which you’ll wear again and again, which is fortunate as they’re about $900 (20% off at time of this post). These ones would go under glass in a revolving pedestal. I wouldn’t hide a pair of heels as lovely as this in the closet! Sigh… Someday…

Suiting Up For Summer 2

Posted by MizzTissa in swimsuit

I’m still having a tough time deciding, but my short list continues to get smaller. I’ve now gotten my swim suit picks down to the following and feel good about the short list.

This bikini from Ed Hardy has a great print

I really like this black bikini from Moshino;

Which is also available in red;

Or I might be sold on this Moschino bikini. Something about this print.

But you know one thing I already have sorted out is the shoes. For poolside, I think a slide makes the most sense.

I might go with something like this pair from Michael Kors;

Or possibly an ultra sexy pair of Giuseppe Zanotti, which are a must have regardless!

Suiting Up For Summer

Posted by MizzTissa in swimsuit

For me, the most difficult showing is for swimwear, and I can’t figure out why. I’ve been looking at it for a while now and have it narrowed down (from a huge list) and should be able to make a choice just in time to wear it once before summer is over.

I’ve often thought of swimwear, or some of it, as water resistant lingerie. With the exception of lace, they’re very similar, and in many cases the swimwear leaves less to the imagination.

Without further adieau, I present MizzTissa’s Summer 09 Beachwear pics!

Starting with this halter top bikini set for about $70, it has kind of a cool print and side ties.

While I’m more partial to the 2 piece bikini/tankini style, but this one piece swimsuit from Sylvie Cachay caught my eye.

I could see myself possibly wearing this black floral halter bikini for $99.

But the hunt continues as I’m still not sold yet!

Designer Maxi Dresses

Posted by MizzTissa in clothing, dresses, fashion

Want to look like you’re ready for a red carpet premier and on your way to Hollywood? Dress like a celebrity, even if you don’t have an opening or awards show. You only live once!

This Nicole Miller maxi dress is stunning in fuschia and has a knot detail halter with button closure around neck and draped fabric down front to create a luxurious look.

And this amazing maxi makes my top picks - the flamingo paisley chiffon halter dress from Badgley Mischka.

To get the look just right, its all about the shoes.

Take a look at this pair for Report Signature that goes by Pamona, with side cutouts and adjustable ankle straps;

The Report Pamona is an affordable pair and great addition to every womans closet. These would probably look great with jeans another day too.

Have you ever seen a pair of high heels that make you melt? You’re about to! This pair of Cesare Paciotti black suede cut-out sandals is the kind of dream shoe that makes want to sing. But now I just need to find a way to get them in my closet.

But this pair of sandals from Fendi might just be the show stopper you’re looking for. It boasts a 4” heel, rhinestone detail, and is every bit stylish and class.

Maxi Dress Parade

Posted by MizzTissa in dresses, fashion, shopping

The maxi dress is all the rage and here at mizztissa we can’t get enough of them. I’m not looking forward to getting my next credit card bill, but loving my new wardrobe! Some favorites from recent shopping adventures…

The Flamingo maxi dress from Hype provides a flattering and sexy look. With spaghetti straps and a deep plunge, its bold blue and gold accents and beautiful print are stylish and in!

The print on this Custo Barcelona is gorgeous! I fell in love with it the moment I saw it.  They’re almost sold out so act fast! I have no idea how to describe the print but its definitely unique.
Custo Barcelona - Irina Colchique (Multi) - Apparel

Another Custo Barcelona print that is as elegant as it is sexy. A Peacock-inspired pattern on the bust and daisy-inspired pattern on the skirt make this a smart stylish buy.

Hot Hot Hot Summer Style

Posted by MizzTissa in clothing, dresses, sandal, sexy, shoes

Summer is almost in full swing and you’re still looking for that perfect pair of summer sandals and a dress? It’s a good thing we ran into each other, coz I have a few ideas that can help with your summer wardrobe.

I know how it is. I’ve been on the same quest for that perfect pair of shoes for a while, and although I have yet to find the perfect pair of heels, every so often I find something like the Christian Louboutin ‘Noeudette’ . These will definitely spice up that little summer dress and add some sizzle. They have a 3½” heel with goldtone metal tip and come complete with the signature red sole.

Could this be the perfect summer sandal? Christian Louboutin ‘Noeudette’ in Hot Pink. For me, it says ‘Let’s Salsa’!

Also available in lime green!

When I’m shopping, I guess I do things backwards compared to a lot of women. I pick the shoes, then the dress. I’ve found this just works for me better. Probably because when I picked the dress or clothes first, I usually had a little trouble finding a pair of heels to go with it. But since I started with the shoes first, no problemo!

Now for the summer dress, and I have just the thing, a few times over. Check this Norman Kamali babydoll green bubble dress! The bustier style bodice with v-neck and crisscross backstraps is just the thing when you’re sitting on the patio people watching!

How about this beautiful off the shoulder silk ruffle dress? I love the flowing look of this one.
ABS Allen Schwartz - Asymmetrical Ruffle Dress (Carnation) - Apparel

Or there’s a dark pink floral jersey dress I adore from David Meister. Perfect for going out almost anywhere.

There’s one other dress that I really liked. It looks so summery (if that’s even a word) and colorful. The small pic doesn’t show it off so well, but borrowing from the description… “Watercolor-hued orchids bloom on the subtly striped halter dress”. If I could only pick one, this might be it. So far, its my summer dress pick!

Rachel Bilson shows us how to work the boyfriend jeans look

Posted by kate in Uncategorized

Rachel Bilson

Is there ever a day that goes by when Rachel Bilson doesn’t get her outfit spot on trend?

In a word, ‘no’.

Just the other day, the former OC star stepped out in one of these seasons’ hottest trends, the boyfriend jeans trend.

The petite brunette teamed her baggy stonewash jeans with a simple white tee, a tassled tan bag, a pair of gladiator sandals and an obligatory pair of superstar sunglasses.

Of course, her outfit would not be complete without her uber cute, shaggy dog.

Bilson is blessed with gorgeous hair, an adorable doggy woggy, great acting talent (ok, so that one is up for debate), an Adonis of a fiance (hello, Hayden Christiansen) and a wardrobe that I would literally kill for.

I guess I’ll have to just make do with imitating her style.

Seriously, no fair.

J Brand Steve Boyfriend Jean in Clyde

Boyfriend jeans don’t only have to be worn with pumps or sandals, but can also be worn with heels, a la’ Kylie Minogue.

It’s always worth investing more money on the basic items in your wardrobe as these are the pieces that you get the most wear out of.

KATE

These Kurt Geiger sandals are called Kate. Brilliant name, if you ask me…
